It was winter of 1982, when John and Helen Martin and their family moved to Woodberry, Tennessee. John and Helen had a vision for a family owned and operated business, and with the Martin's love for gardening, the home and garden center seemed like a perfect fit. The Martin's started with one green house to grow vegetable plants to sell at the local farmer's market. That same year, John started building storage sheds. Over the next few years, a few more green houses were put up and John started growing bedding plants and selling them at the local flea market in Murfreesboro. In 1985, the Martin's rented a theater parking lot to sell plants and produce. As the business grew, space become strained and the Martin's purchased a piece of property on Bradyville Pike in Murfreesboro. There Martin's became a full service nursery and garden center. In 2003, Martin's opened a new retail garden center and nursery on Broad Street, and expanded the business to nearly five acres.

Today, Martin's continues to thrive on quality and customer service. Martin's has expanded again, incorporating landscape design services along with its sales of bedding plants, perennials, garden stock, trees and shrubs and of course our barns and buildings, playhouses and playsets, gazebos and much more.
